Meet Katy

Envision this scenario with me: You’re out to dinner with friends and everyone is looking at the menu, trying to decide what to order. People start asking, “What are you going to get?” and everyone starts comparing what they’re planning to order.

What’s going through your head as you’re listening to everyone else say what they’re ordering? Are you gauging what you’re planning to order based on what they are ordering?

  1. There’s no right or wrong answer here. It’s an interesting thought experiment about how social dynamics will impact our decisions about what we will or won’t let ourselves eat.
  2. These are the types of struggles that we face when we compare ourselves to others. When we compare what we are eating to what other people are eating, it keeps us disconnected from our own bodies. Instead of choosing what you’re hungry for or what your body is wanting and needing, comparison often leads us to order what we feel like we “should” order in that situation.

In this episode, I’m going to be sharing some strategies that will help you to stay in your own lane to stop comparing yourself to other people and to stay connected with your body and your needs. This is going to help you work through your fears, and your self-doubts about what you’re eating.

Things that can so easily throw us off are comparisons, so here’s what we’re going to cover in terms of stepping out of these unhelpful comparisons:

  • Strategies for staying in your own lane and how to stop comparing
  • How to tune out the food/diet talk and change the conversation
  • How to be at ease even when others are dieting, restricting or doing weird things with their eating

Keep coming back to YOU and your own process. You can be on your own path, and there is a community of people that will support you. That’s why podcasts like this exist, and it’s why programs like my course Non-Diet Academy and the Empowered Intuitive Eating Experience exist. Because there are a LOT of other people out there just like you who are seeking to have peace with food, peace with their bodies and peace within themselves.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this episode and what stuck out to you. Send me a DM on Instagram and let me know. I’d also love to answer any questions you have about the workshop.

In the meantime, stay kind, stay curious and as always, be gentle with yourself. We’ll talk again soon.
