A typical ED conversation:
ED: Your jeans are a little tight today.
Self: You're right. What should I do?
ED: You should probably cut back on your eating today.
Self: Ok, good idea. I will skip breakfast and have just a salad for lunch.
ED: That's pretty good, but if you really want to lose weight you should probably work out too.
Changing the conversation with ED:
ED: Your jeans are a little tight today.
Self: Go away, ED. My jeans are just fine.
ED: I'm just trying to help you. You should probably cut back on your eating today.
Self: No, that's not going to fix anything. My body needs food to survive.
ED: But you could stand to lose a little bit of weight. You'd be so much happier and more confident.
Self: Weight loss doesn't produce happiness. I don't need your advice, ED.
