Meet Katy

"I want to lose weight." = I want to be accepted, feel worthy, be loveable

"I'm not ready to recover." = My eating disorder still serves a useful purpose in my life, I'm scared, I don't deserve recovery

"I have to eat something sweet right now." = I need more "sweetness" in my life, I'm hungry, I need comfort/soothing, I'm in pain, I want pleasure/joy/fun

"I shouldn't have eaten that.  I'm going to get so fat." = I feel inadequate, Shame on me for having wants/needs, If I focus on feeling fat I don't have to feel other painful emotions

You get the picture.  Practice decoding your thoughts and looking at what they are truly indicating.
