I’m really excited to share my 3-step process for body-led eating today, because it’s actually something I teach inside Non-Diet Academy, so you’re getting a little taste of the things we talk about inside the course. And of course for my students, I also help them customize all of this to fit their personal needs so that it fits into their everyday lives.
We’re going to use my 3-step process to help you unlearn some of those old food rules that are swirling around in your brain.
Think about when you’re pushing your cart through the grocery store and see a dessert that sounds really good but you think to yourself, “I really shouldn’t have that. It’s too much sugar and I’ll probably inhale it all in one sitting.”
Or those thoughts you have when you go to dish up some pasta for dinner and you think, “I need to be careful how much of this I eat because it’s a lot of carbs. I better do a longer workout tomorrow to make up for this.”
In these scenarios your body isn’t leading you – your brain is, and diet culture is because that’s what is stuck in our brains from being immersed in diet culture for our entire lives. We were born with the built-in mechanisms to know how much food we need to eat.
If you follow the 3-step process I teach you includes: Schedule, composition and amount. You can remember this with the SCA acronym, it’s going to help you get back to a place where you are connected with your body, you can listen to your body, and you can trust yourself with food. We’re not throwing nutrition out the window. In fact, I’m going to share a simple strategy for getting a good balance of nutrition without being diet-y or restrictive and without having to overthink it or count anything.
What we’re aiming for here is to reconnect you with the wisdom that is innate within your body – the wisdom that has always been there. This is going to allow you to have more peace and freedom with food than you could have imagined. AND it’s going to empower you to take care of your health and nutrition in ways that are simple yet effective. You’re not having to choose between good health and food freedom. They can be one in the same.
