Feeling lost or stuck with intuitive eating? It’s a common experience when the framework lacks rigid rules and structured guidelines. In this episode of Rebuilding Trust With Your Body, I’m diving into how to refocus your intuitive eating practice using Principle 6 from Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch’s book, Intuitive Eating. This principle, “Discover the Satisfaction Factor,” can serve as a guiding star to help you regain direction and clarity.
Intuitive eating isn’t about following strict rules; it’s about shifting your mindset. The principles are designed to remove “attunement disruptors” that block your ability to listen to your body and eat naturally. Satisfaction is central to intuitive eating. By focusing on this principle, you can realign your approach and make other aspects of intuitive eating fall into place more smoothly.
Focusing on satisfaction can help you overcome feelings of being stuck with intuitive eating. Establishing a consistent eating schedule, practicing the “Powerful Pause,” balancing your meals with carbs, protein, and fat, and exploring emotional triggers for non-hunger eating can all contribute to a more balanced and fulfilling relationship with food.
Today, I discuss:
- Understanding Intuitive Eating
- Refocusing with Principle 6
- Practical Steps to Recenter
- Enhancing the Eating Experience
- Comfort Food and Connection
