Intuitive eating isn’t about eating whatever you want, whenever you want. It’s about listening to your body’s signals. I explain how another client learned to be mindful and responsive to her body’s needs, marking a significant shift in her intuitive eating journey.

n this episode of Rebuilding Trust With Your Body, I dive into three key insights I wish I could have shared with you before you started your intuitive eating journey. These insights revolve around Principle 3 from the book Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch, focusing on making peace with food. Neutralizing your judgments is crucial for intuitive eating. I share a client’s breakthrough experience in my Intuitive Eating Experience (IEE) program, where she realized the importance of listening to her body rather than treating intuitive eating as a free-for-all.

Making peace with food involves learning to say no without falling into a diet mentality. It’s essential to understand the difference between saying no because you’re full and saying no out of guilt or fear of weight gain. I discuss the importance of conscious decision-making and how it can be a learning opportunity to better gauge hunger and fullness cues. For those with medical conditions, setting gentle boundaries without labeling foods as healthy or unhealthy is key to honoring your body’s needs while enjoying the foods you love.

Today, I discuss:

  • The need to stop judging and labeling food
  • How to distinguish between intuitive and impulsive eating
  • How to find the freedom to say yes and no to food
