Meet Katy

Who do you look up to and admire?  It can be someone in your life currently or in the past.  Or it could be a public figure or celebrity.  What do you admire about this person?

I admire my grandmother.  She has lived independently into her 90's after raising 6 amazing children and being married for decades.  I admire her strength as a woman and a mother.  I also admire her kindness and generosity.  She instilled a deep sense of devotion and reverence for the Catholic faith in me, which I now share with my husband and son.  I admire her intelligence and her passion for sports.  She never forgets a birthday.  She loves her family with all her heart.  I am a better person because of her presence in my life.

Not a single thing that I admire about her is related to her appearance.  I don't know or care how much she weighs or whether she lost the baby weight after each of her children.  None of that matters.

What others appreciate about you as a person is not about your appearance.  They care about your integrity, your kindness, your ability to connect and make a difference in the lives of others.  Don't waste your life obsessing about your body image.  You are a wonderful, valuable human being regardless of how much you weigh or whether you ate carbs today.  Choose to invest your energy in the things that matter.
