I mentioned this in yesterday's blog post as one of the many reasons we eat.
Pre-hunger is when you eat in anticipation of future hunger.
It may be a useful strategy if you won't have the opportunity to eat later and do now.
It might not be so useful if you're eating out of fear of hunger.
