Let me ask you this: If you could go back and give your past self a piece of advice about your eating or about how you felt about your body, what would it be? 

For me, it would be to not be so hard on myself about my eating and my body, and to not encourage others to diet in the name of “health” – because it turns out that actually backfires. (And now that I know better, I am doing better.) 

In this podcast episode I’m chatting with Jonny Landels, who used to be a personal trainer that taught people how to lose weight, and he has since shifted his views and now coaches his clients to listen to their bodies through the intuitive eating and HAES lens. 

In this episode, you’ll hear:

  • What made Jonny realize that his relationship with food and exercise was disordered and wasn’t working for him – and how he made the shift to embracing intuitive eating.
  • Tips for practicing self-acceptance when you gain weight or lose muscle tone and you’re feeling less confident about your body.
  • Why “calories in, calories out” doesn’t add up for how our bodies actually work (and a better way to think about your food and nutrition).

It’s so awesome to share these stories of people who aren’t only experts in this field, but who have been stuck in their own diet mentality in the past, who made that shift and started doing things differently just like most of you who are listening. We were all born into a world that was already obsessed with dieting and thinness, and it takes a lot of work to unlearn all of that. So we’re going to hear from Jonny how he did it, and I’m confident it’s going to help you embrace your own mindset shifts too!
