So you understand the basics of intuitive eating…now what? What happens next? That’s the question I’m answering in this episode. Because I can tell you that once you read the book on intuitive eating, and even if you can rattle off the 10 principles, you’re not done with the work to heal your relationship with food. In fact, I’d argue that you’re only just beginning. You can think of the 10 principles as the basics, and my hunch is that you want to go beyond the basis. You don’t have to settle for kind-of-sort-of knowing what IE is about and wondering if you’re really doing it as it’s intended. 

Once you understand how the 10 principles of intuitive eating work, you’re not done with healing your relationship with food. In fact, I’d argue that you’re only just beginning. You can think of the 10 principles as the basics, and my hunch is that you want to go beyond the basis. 

If you’re ready to FULLY have peace with food, for eating to feel easy, and to trust that you are taking care of your health, then listen as I walk you through the 4 areas that you’re going to want to focus on next. 

The 10 principles in the book are just the beginning. It’s like building a house, where you first must lay the foundation. The principles are the foundation, and now we get to build the walls, and the roof, and we get to decorate the inside and do the fun stuff that’s richer and more rewarding and really gets customized to you and your uniqueness.

We wouldn’t lay the foundation for a house and then call it done. We’ve got to keep going in order to build the dream home and to live in it. The “home” that I’m referring to here is your relationship with food and your relationship with your body. (I don’t want diet mentality to sneak in and twist this to mean that you’re building your dream body – because we all know what that means and we’re right back to dieting at that point.) I’m talking about building a relationship to food and your body that feels good, that you can live in, where you can kick your feet up and relax on the couch with a fuzzy blanket and watch your favorite show. That’s the type of relationship to food and your body that we want. One that feels comfortable and peaceful like home. 

And THAT is what going beyond the basics can do for you. The 4 areas I cover in this episode are going to help you go deeper and cultivate long-term healing in your relationship with food and your body. No more quick fixes around here.
