Meet Katy

The human body is amazing. Yet we spend so much time scrutinizing it and focusing on perceived flaws.  Pause for a moment and think about all of the wonderful things that our bodies do. Everything from giving birth to allowing us to experience rest and relaxation.

Our body's organs operate for us like the engine in a car. It's so crucial that these organs maintain a certain level of functioning that the body will make sacrifices to ensure this homeostasis, even if it means lowering metabolism or breaking down muscle for fuel. After all, our biceps are less crucial than your liver, right?

The nutrients in food are what the body uses to perform maintenance and repairs on our organs. The calories in food are the energy that the body uses to keep its engine running. Upon considering these facts, it would make sense for us to nourish our body well since it can't function without it. The body does so much for us and it's easy to take that for granted.

Every morning when I walk my dog I am grateful for the gifts my body gives me. The gift of sight to experience the sunrise, the gift of movement as we stroll around the block, the strength in my arms when she pulls on the leash to chase a squirrel. When we are in tune with this gratitude nourishing the body is the only thing that really makes sense. My call to action is for you to reflect on the amazing things your body does and to treat it well.
