In the world of cheerleading there are those who are the base and those who are the flyers.
The base is responsible for holding up the flyers and making sure they don't fall. Their code is that they will hit the ground before a flyer does.
The flyer is the one who gets thrown in the air and does all of the flips and tricks. The flyer gets all the glory.
A base could feel as though she doesn't matter as much as a flyer because she doesn't get the ooh's and ahh's, but the base is the glue holding it all together. It takes tremendous strength to be a base, not only physically but also mentally. She puts herself on the line and is prepared to sacrifice herself to make sure the flyer doesn't get hurt. The flyer wouldn't fly without the base.
How about being someone's base today – lifting them up, letting them fly as high as the sky, celebrating their success. It can be incredibly powerful to help others succeed without needing any of the glory.
