Meet Katy

Bingeing, starving or anything in between, food is not the problem.  Rather, the problem is the way you are using food.  Eating disorders are a continuum of behaviors, and at the core the underlying issues are the same.  The hunger is for something that no amount of food can provide.  Most people with eating issues (whether diagnosed with an ED or not) will experience both restricting and bingeing at times.  Labeling a person by diagnosis (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder) can be not only dehumanizing by also reduces them to a narrowly defined set of assumptions.
