4 ways to improve your body image:

  1. Instead of counting calories try counting your blessings.  It is customary in many cultures to say a blessing before a meal as an expression of gratitude for the food.  Trust me, your food will be much more enjoyable if you are grateful for it rather than afraid of it causing weight gain.
  2. Instead of "clean eating" try intuitive eating.  First of all, there's no such thing as "clean eating," despite what you read on the internet.  Intuitive eating means listening to the signals from your body.  By honoring your body rather than depriving it you will ultimately feel better about yourself.
  3. Instead of exercising to burn calories try moving your body to feel good.  Focusing on calorie burn is a sure way to make exercise like torture.  Moving in ways that feel good can give you more energy, improve mood, boost self-esteem and be FUN.
  4. Instead of weighing yourself try celebrating yourself.  Weighing yourself is correlated with worse body image.  Using the scale to measure your self-worth is a losing game.  Instead, celebrate your body and its uniqueness as well as the amazing things it does.
