Meet Katy

The Rebuilding Trust With Your Body podcast helps people make peace with food and their bodies using various tools, strategies, and mindset shifts. In the latest episode, Katy Harvey talks about why finding joy outside of food is necessary and freeing in intuitive eating.

Key Topics

  • Intuitive Eating
  • The dangers of emotional eating
  • Helpful tips to move past food obsession

Today, We discuss:

  • Finding joy outside of food. If you find yourself in a cycle where food is your only source of joy, and you’re regularly binging at the end of the day, it might be time to reassess. This isn’t about willpower or self-control; it’s about recognizing that your emotional needs aren’t being met in other areas of your life.
  • Why labeling food “good” and “bad” can be harmful. While labeling food might seem like a kinder, more intuitive way to think about food, it still creates a hierarchy that can lead to guilt and shame.
  • Total Conscious Time: One way to assess the role food plays in your life is to consider your Total Conscious Time (TCT)—the percentage of your day that you spend thinking about food, weight, your body, or exercise.
